Sustainable mobility is at the heart of our global concerns about livable cities and regions, now and for the generations to come. Major efforts are needed in research and practice on both the invention and implementation of sustainable mobility solutions.
The mobil.TUM conference shall once again serve as an opportunity for international and interdisciplinary dialogue on the latest challenges and achievements in the field. The conference seeks to draw connections between issues of practice and new research contributions.
The mobil.TUM 2012 conference is organized by the Department of Urban Structure and Transport Planning at TUM's Institute for Transportation. The conference will focus on strategies for sustainable accessibility. If one wants to ensure mobility for the future, one has to design and implement an integrated system of transport supply, spatial structure and mobility management in order to enable and foster sustainable mobility behavior. It is important to consider travel demand not as a given constraint, but as a dependant variable to be shaped. Transportation Demand Management in that sense can have an important impact on economic prosperity, social welfare and ecological viability.
